April 08 half marathonI know I have not blog in a long time but I had to get on and tell everyone that I ran my half marathon this past sunday. I was not able to run the whole time but I did finish with a time of 2 hours 31 minutes and 44 seconds. Only 3minutes and 50 seconds behind my dad. I have to say that when I was running the race and watched my dad who will turn 65 this month run right past me and finish before me was amazing. I joined this site for extra motivation and inspiration but what I found out on sunday was I had the motivation I needed all alone with my dad. I was just to blind to see it. I have never seen my dad so proud of me in my life. I thought I could beat him even though he had been running now for 5 or 6 years but I was wrong. The race was much harder then I had thought and I realized when my dad passed me up and i followed him to the finish line that he is amazing. I plan to run more half marathons and one day complete a full one. I don't think my dad will ever be able to run a full one it will just be to much on him, but I will for myself and for my dad. And by the way I wont let him beat me again. I have now inspired other people in my family to run. On memorial day this year, my dad, my 15 year old nephew and myself will be running a 10k . My sister and my 12 year old niece will running thier first 5k. I think it is great that me training running and finishing a half marathon has inspired others in my family to do the same. Lastly I would like to say that running even the half marathon was an amazing experience I recommend it to everyone. even if you can not run one mile I say get out there and walk the whole day thing because there is nothing like it! March 15 been gone for a whileI know I have not put a blog on here in a while but here I am. I have just been super busy with a new job and working out all the time , training for my half marathon and getting ready for my close friends wedding. I have all the maid of honor duties to attend to for that. My race is less then a month away now. I cant wait. I ran 90 minutes on thursday and today I ran another 90 minutes (8 miles) yeah. Thats more then half way. I have been a little discouraged because I'm just not dropping weight like I would hope exspecially with how much I run all the time, but I haven't let that slow me down. So as an update when I started this site I weighed 189 and now I weigh 183 that is only 6 pounds and it has been a while. I feel a lot better and my percentage of body fat has gone down a lot so I guess I'm doing alright.
KAREN February 06 weigh inThis week has been bad for our team. I, Karen didn't lose any weight cause I was so sick last week that I didn't get to work out at all. Then Tiffany has not been able to work out cause she just had her surgery and is still recoverying from that. So hopefully next week we will be able to come back strong. I have started working out again but I'm not fully back yet but I should be going strong again by next tuesday. February 04 for my second blogFor my second blog of the day I would like to pose a Question. See my biggest issue in looseing weight is my "DIET." I don't think I'm alone in this. I mean I go to the gym and work out everyday. But the eating thing is tough. I either eat to much of the wrong things or not enough of the right things or I just don't eat enough at all. And then there is always that one thing that you cant give up. I mean superman has his Kryptonite "RIGHT?" Well so do I! I used to think mine was soda but I gave that up easily back in sept. then I thought it was ice cream (which is a tough one) but that has been ok for me not to have also. Then I figured it out. I have 2 things its pasta with white creamy sauce and nachos. Oh how I love nachos. They are my real weakness. I can't live without them so I have been looking for better ways to eat them and then I just eat less of them. LOL. So the question is What is your Kryptonite? Everyone has something thats why a lot of us are wearing the safety pins to keep us protected from our Kryptonite. So What is it? What is that one thing that is making this contest so hard for you to stick with exactly the way you should? down and outThis is Karen again. I have had a rough week. I have been sick so I have not got to workout at all since last tuesday. I tried to go on Saturday and thought I was going to pass out and fall off the treadmill. I don't think I gave myself enough time to recover. And tomorrow is my big training day. I go to the gym for a class called "bootcamp" (it really is as bad as tough as it sounds) then I have an hour with my trainer. To work on arms and abs. My arms and abs are thankful by Thursday because they get a little break while we do work on my legs. I'm worried I won't make it through this week. I litteraly could not do anything last week. I have not been able to do any training runs for my marathon even. I will let everyone know how it goes tomorrow after my hard workout day. If I can even make it to my computer that is. LOL February 02 Update on Tiffany Hello again this is actually Karen but I wanted to tell everyone why my partner has not yet got to post a blog. She just had her 3rd son back in oct. and had some complications with her gul bladder. She had surgery this week to have it removed and is starting her recovery process. So it will take her a couple weeks or so till she can get back to working out and dropping more weight. Who knows maybe just by having the surgery she will have lost a pound or two. Anyone know how much a gul bladder weighs? lol just kidding. I will make sure she writes out a blog entry as soon as she is feeling better. January 29 karen's miles and miles to goHere I am again. There are some things I didn't get to say in my first blog. I am not only just trying to lose weight right now. I am also training. My dad is a runner, its something he took up a few years ago at the age of 62. I started running myself in hopes to be able to run in a race with him at some point. Well that some point is now. My dad (for Christmas) payed my way into the St Louis half-Marathon on April 6th. I'm excited about it but I have never ran close to that many miles. "That" is 13.1 miles(for anyone who doesn't know). I started my training for this at the beginning of January. I am now running a little over 5 miles on the treadmill, and hopefully with the right shoes I will be able to run that much outside now also. I just purchased a new pair of running shoes today. I never knew that was such a complicated thing. But I believe I have the right pair now so I should just be able to run for days. LOL, yea right. keep checking back. I will let you know how my runs are coming alone with my new shoes. Karen My StoryOkay so here goes my first blog, My name is Karen. Even though I just joined this contest, my weight loss journey started back in september. At that time I weighed 216lbs. That is the most I have ever weighed and I was ready to make a change. So I stopped drinking soda and started walking. I lost 10lbs but by November it was getting cold, so I chose to get a gym membership and take my workouts indoors. I made the decision at the end of Nov. to get a trainer. I signed up for 16 sessions. It paid off I drop another 17lbs so far, but I only have 2 sessions left. Which brings me to the present time I now weigh 189lbs and my goal weight is 145lbs. I think I will be keeping my trainer. The gym I go to is starting a "biggest loser" contest of their own and I want to be in it. |
